Porcelain Dreams

Why is it that I ponder much
     upon your mere existence?
I sit upon this summer's blush
     and pray for God's assistance.

That He may help me overcome
the love I feel for you
Because with love the pain I feel
makes my days of joy seem few.

My days are filled with daydream thoughts
     of fantasies we could share.
Alas, your heart is filled with locks
that make you immune to care.

Eyes of brown that draw me near
are a warning to my heart
That destiny will not fear
     at keeping us apart.

I recently found my very first poem inspired by my high school crush. Unfortunately, or VERY fortunately, my love was unrequited. My heartsick poem makes me chuckle and cringe a little. Teen love can be very dramatic and traumatic!
